Alanya. What to see.
The main attraction of Alanya is its fortress. This fortification is located in the city center and dates from the 13th century. It was built by the Seljuk Turks, who later captured the Byzantine Empire and are the ancestors of today's Turks.
The fortress is located in the very center, spread along the sea of the city, on a rocky peninsula. The length of its double walls is six and a half kilometers. On the same site there are 16 towers. At one time in the fortress was the winter palace of the Ottoman Sultan.
Here, in the fortress, from the port, is the main symbol of the city - the 33-meter tower of Kyzyl Kule. It was built of red brick in the same 13th century. Because of this, she has a second name - the Red Tower. She is depicted on the arms of the city of Alanya. Near the fortress is a bus stop number 4.
Back in Alanya, you should definitely visit her caves. The main one, called Damlatas, is located very close to Cleopatra's beach. To be more precise, in the area adjacent to the beach fortress.
The cave is considered healing, especially for patients with asthma. The latter take place in the cave for a 3-week course of treatment from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. the cave is accessible to all comers, except for the cores. A ticket costs 6 lira.
Another famous Alanya cave called Dim is located 13 kilometers from the city center. It is located in a mountainside above the Dim Chai River. Its length is 360 meters. Stalactites and stalagmites inside it are already a million years old. The most convenient way to get to the cave is by renting a car (type Dim Cave in the navigator) or as part of excursions. The entrance to the cave costs 15 lire, working hours from 9 a.m. to 19 p.m.
Also interesting in Alanya will be a visit to the Alara River Gorge (rafting available), the city dolphinarium and park, the eastern market in Konakli, the embankment and port.
