What to visit in Gran Paradiso.

There is a national park in the Italian province of Valle d'Aosta. It's called Gran Paradiso, which means Big Paradise. It is located in the south of the province and captures part of the neighboring Piedmont.

Its main tourist attraction is the mountain Gran Paradise, which is 4167 meters high. And this is the only 4 thousand, which is completely in Italy. But I'll tell you everything in order.

Until the 19th century, sport hunting and collection of medicinal herbs were very popular in the square that the park occupies today. But still, the most desired prey here was the Alpine mountain goat. By the mid-19th century, the population of these mountain animals was practically exterminated.

Population of goats quickly declined. But in the course of events, King of Italy Victor Emmanuel intervened. He declared in 1856 this territory a national royal hunting reserve. Thus, the local goats were saved from complete destruction.

The starting point for visiting the park is the capital of the Aosta region. From it you need to move in a western direction on the road E25 to Parc Animalier d'Introd.

Actually, this very park can already become the first cognitive stop on the way to Gran Paradiso. Because here, in conditions close to natural, most of the representatives of the local fauna live. And some of them can be observed not in cages.

Routes.

Continuing the journey to Gran Paradise, at the fork on SR23 and SR24, you need to choose 23. This path, if not fold, will lead to the village of Pont, behind which there is a parking lot. Actually this parking place is the beginning of two routes for climbing the right mountain.

If you've heard about ski-tours or ski-mountaineering, then in this place, this direction of active recreation is very popular. The season for them in this place, as a rule, opens in the second half of March and ends in May.

Gran Paradiso.

This direction of tourism is absolutely amateur. And the possibility of climbing a mountain with a height of 4167 meters, is explained by its gentle slopes. On skis here you can climb almost to the top. And only the last 70 meters will have to be done in special equipment to get to the very top.

The highest point of the mountain is the statue of the Madonna. The mentioned relic appeared, after the Pope Pius XI himself ascended to Gran Paradiso in 1887.

If you come here just wander around the neighborhood, then in Ponte you can stay at the Albergo Gran Paradiso. The tourist season lasts from March to October. If you want to climb to the top, you need to keep in mind that the trip will take 2-3 days. It will depend on the weather and your physical endurance.

Each route has its own shelter, in which they stop before climbing to the top. After the climb, before going down to the valley of Valsavaranche, you can also stop here. By the way, in the summer climb to the top of Gran Paradiso, is one of the stages of preparation, before climbing Mont Blanc.

The summer season in the national park ends in October. And besides the climb to Gran Paradiso, hiking routes are very popular here. And the routes here are of varying complexity and length. Well, and that tourists did not put the tents banned here, camping sites and huts are arranged near the trails.

And the latter work all year round, because the observant Italians have noticed: that as summer replaces the winter, and pedestrians are replaced by skiers. And this cycle in nature is as natural as the fact that the sun always rises in the east, and sits in the west.

National park.

Gran Paradiso is Italy's oldest national park, in which great importance is attached to the preservation of the virginity of nature. Therefore, all tourists who choose walking tours on it, are urged not to set fire to the forest and not attack the bears.

But if seriously, the uninvited animal comes across very often. And mountain goats, which in fact were the primary cause of the formation of this protected zone, can be found if you choose routes higher.
